Theya
Temple Of Kunap Kai
what happened
- a strange being calling itself the "Voice of Kunap'Kai" appeared and demanded obedience
- it was carried by the missing scouts
- Zuma recognises it as Okuekali, a lesser servant of Kunap'Kai whos two heads see the future and the past, respectively
- the group was sent out to scout as Paqarimuy considered all this to be a bit fishy
- the found a tunnel up to the plateau; after defeating one of the strange constructs inside it they were able to approach and enter the temple area itself
- Tepoyali escaped from the camp multiple times to join them or scout on her own
- the group infiltrated the complex and found a large tribe of Kobolds defiling it and constructing idols of the Voice
- Apu challenged the Chosen, with powers related to night; revealing some of their secrets
- meanwhile, Paqarimuy is in a trance, something related to her god
- Qyuachin was able to stall - in part thanks to Apus somewhat shaken standing after his attempt to murder Mica
- Tepoyali helped a number of Michina escape; though some were killed by kobolds hunting them
- the group infiltrated the temple, making their way mostly undetected to the depths of the temple
- the group fought its way past two strong guards (and a weak wall) to discover a vast underground cavern containing the dead bodies of thousands of Rumi Runa
- they encountered and calmed the ghosts of sacrificed Nuqanchik that are trapped here
- with the aid of the ghosts, they put the Kobolds that were waiting for them atop the stairs to flight and stormed the throne room
- after a long, dangerous struggle, they managed to kill Okuekali (or at least destroy its body)
- some of its essence fled into the walls of the temple (?)
- the energy it had stolen and accrued was gathered up by Itzcoa into one of the crystals
what they learned
- the temple has a "warding aura", but it is very weak (even in the main pyramid)
- there is a large tribe of Tepilin (kobolds) at the temple, they worship the Voice directly as god
- the Voice has replaced most of the pantheon and mostly claimed the temple for itself
- some strange "constructs" of stone/bone/dead plants are present; they seem both dangerous and somewhat unstable
- the gate at the center once lead to the domain of the gods; it is defunct since a while
- those sacrificed to the gods would pass into their domain; now with the gates closed they are trapped in the temples
- the gods themselves are also trapped - either on this world, or on their own
